I am so very thankful that Anne was willing to donate her time and talents to helping me. Please let her know how grateful I am for her kindness. I just had bilateral mastectomies done on July 9. It is so hard to even be able to say the words I have Cancer. I still think I'm in shock. I am so glad your organization exists and that it helps others in such a useful, practical way.

While looking for info about prosthetic breast forms, I came across your "Knitted Knockers" web site. I was so moved by the idea that folks would take the time to do this and to share such a personal and useful gift with women who have had a mastectomy. I do not knit, and my crocheting skills are extremely limited. I wrote and requested a pair of 'Knockers', feeling a little guilty that I don't know how to knit or crochet well enough to make my own. I really didn't expect that you would be able to send some, as I'm guessing you receive a lot of requests. Today, I received my package in the mail, and I absolutely love them!!

My pair was made by "Judy from AZ", and it says they are made with pima cotton. They are so very soft and nice, and it just warms my heart thinking someone took the time to make these for a total stranger.

Thanks you so very much for the "new" me. You made my day!

Today I received a great gift a pair of knitted breast prosthesis. They are a great and appeciated gift. They are soft and easy to wear. I had a bilateral three months ago and still a little sore but with these prosthesis feels good and looks normal. A big thank you.

Just received my knitted knockers last night. I tried it on right away & my parents couldn't believe how natural it looked. It is so light weight & comfortable. I can only think of one thing to say - WOW!

Thank you so very much for my knitted knockers. They are so much more comfortable and lighter than the prosthetics. I appreciate your kindness and generosity more than words can say.

Thank you for the wonderful pair of Knitted Knockers and for the gift of caring you offer to those who are dealing with breast cancer. When a person is dealing with medical uncertainty, it is a wonderful feeling to know there are folks, many of whom are strangers, who care.

What you do for breast cancer survivors is outstanding.

I have been trying everything to get the right look since my double mastectomies in January 2013. The little puffy thing from the ACS just never looked right so after 15 or 20 minutes of tucking and fluffing (and cussing) I would just take them out, cry a little from frustration and continue on with my hot flash. Bootless and not feeling myself. I love my knitted knockers. They are the perfect size and so soft and comfortable. They give me such confidence and have truly put a big smile on my face (I even saw a couple of cute guys check them out) ha ha.

Your knitted knockers gave me back my giggle.

My thanks and admiration for what you do. Providing for newly "changed" women is wonderful!

I absolutely love my knitted knockers!!! They are ever so much more comfortable and feel so much better against my skin than the "dreaded prosthesis I have." You and your volunteer knitters are truly a gift from God, especially after going through a difficult medical trauma and such a major surgery. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!Rec'd the knitted knockers and I absolutely love them.

  • Tempe Yarn originally began our Knitted Knocker program as a short term community support program for a local cancer center (Chandler Regional Hospital Cancer Center). But our fiber community was so moved by the stories shared by those who received the Knitted Knockers that it has taken on a life of its own. To be able to knit (or crochet) a simple Knitted Knocker in a few hours that will change how someone feels about themselves is an amazing way to give back. Read More about Knitted Knocker’s history.

"I just received my lovely knitted knockers, and I wanted to thank you. They’re so soft and I’ll love wearing them. They’re almost better than having a real breast. Almost."
